Your Northfield Township Democratic Sample Ballot
Tuesday Feb 2 "I don’t care who does the electing, just so long as I do the nominating"
Boss Tweed of Tammany Hall
Not everyone likes voting in primaries, but remember that it is the primary that determines if a Todd Stroger represents us or a Forrest Claypool. A Rod Blagojevich or a Paul Vallas. Many of us are unhappy with how politics is being handled these days, in Washington, in Springfield, and in the County Building. It’s the Primary Election where we need to take a stand for a reformed Democratic Party. Northfield Township has been voting more and more Democratic over the years, with Democrats winning most elections ever since 2000. But the Primary Election is where we get to choose the kind of Democrats we want. Don’t let the bosses pick for you.
In the Democratic Primary Election, you will receive a ballot listing about 50 candidates for Democratic Party nomination, some good…some not so good. Candidates needed to receive at least 60% of our members’ votes to earn endorsement from Democrats of Northfield Township. Your ballot will also contain the names of 40 or more candidates for judge. Our overall tradition has been to not endorse judicial candidates but to provide you with information as to who the most qualified candidates appear to be.
Please support highly qualified candidates like David Hoffman for United States Senate (#2), Bill Brandt for State Central Committeeman (#54), and Toni Preckwinkle for President of the Cook County Board (#95). Those three votes alone will do wonders to help us grow the Democratic Party.
Mike Kreloff, Democratic Committeeman, Northfield Township
